Introduction

Mission Homescape has adapted escape games to the senior public: larger writing, objects adapted for easier touching and grasping, simplified puzzles. There is an animator who goes to retirement homes to provide animation.

The first objective is to take part in this original animation making them interact and communicate with the common objective of solving the riddles and finding a treasure together

Accompanied by a facilitator and the caretakers, the residents are transformed into detectives for a day. They skilfully solve the proposed problems by collectively stimulating their brains.

Methodological Approach

The game helps to promote dialogue between seniors and their caregivers. The aim of this entertaining activity is to delay the various weaknesses and to stimulate cognitive functions. The senior escapes games are adapted to their needs and propose themes linked to their daily problems.

An escape game is a puzzle game played in teams. The players have to solve a series of puzzles within a given time limit in order to escape or to accomplish a mission. They are above all logical puzzles. They can be visual, mathematical… These puzzles can be grouped into three main families: search, manipulation and reflection. Digging is generally the first stage of the game. Players gather objects found in a drawer, behind a frame or under a carpet for example, before finding a use for them to progress in the adventure. During the game, players are then confronted with mechanisms that require logic and sometimes some manual dexterity to complete.
Example with autnomy thematic:

This is a mobile games which propose the people over 60 in adapting and fitting out their homes. The game allows them to playfully appropriate solutions and good ideas for adapting their homes. The escape game features 4 essential rooms in a home where 5 challenges lead users to discover for themselves concrete solutions to gain autonomy at home.
